Our auto-centric lifestyle promotes environmental destruction, mass killings, unsafe neighborhoods, and disconnectedness that driving causes in each and every corner of the globe.  By celebrating a week free of automobile travel we allow our planet and ourselves to breathe.  We make our streets safer.  We reduce noise and pollution.  We allow our values to align with our actions.  Car-Free Week provides an opportunity for us to view and explore the world from a new lens.  Pushing ourselves to be car-free creates a more peaceful and less harmful existence in our neighborhood and in the places we pass through..
